The Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology urges businesses to share their skills needs as regional Barometer Report launched
Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology (IoT) has launched its first ever Barometer Report, a measure of the region’s skills challenges based on insight from its business engagement experts.
The IoT is not one place but a collective of seven colleges and three universities offering technical training courses drawn up in collaboration with employers. Businesses inform the IoT of the skills they need and courses are co-created to produce the employees they need now and in the future.
The colleges are: Burnley, Blackburn, Blackpool and The Fylde, Nelson and Colne, Lancaster and Morecambe, Preston and Runshaw, while the universities involved are UCLAN, Lancaster and Edge Hill.
The Barometer Report 2024 includes insight from the IoT’s experts, including:
💡Trends they are experiencing when carrying out employer outreach work
💡Needs businesses are reporting when it comes to employee training
💡The solutions the IoT has come up with to assist with economic growth
The IoT can assist businesses with their skills needs, from short training courses to a range of higher technical qualifications. It also wants more employers to speak up about their skills gaps and work with it to train up about the workforces of the future.
